David graduated from Shenandoah University with a masters in physical therapy and has been practicing orthopedic and sports medicine since 1994. David was also the chief instructor for injury prevention and instruction of back programs and ergonomic assessments for all departments of Penrose Community Hospital from 1999-2002. David was a physical therapist for the United States Power lifting & Weightlifting Federations. He was lead PT for the 1997 National Junior Weight Lifting Championships at NAU Flagstaff, AZ.
David also founded The Gerstel Cancer Foundation in 2002, a 501 (3) (c) non-profit. Current plans are to raise money for cancer rehab, cancer rehab research, and cancer research.
Areas of clinical interest include the shoulder and knee, as well injury prevention training. As the owner of Spectrum Rehabilitation, David is committed to providing the community with the highest level of rehabilitative care with an emphasis on wellness. In addition, David has served as a volunteer to many organizations, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Down Syndrome Association.
David has 20 years of Martial Art’s experience as a student, competitor, and instructor. As an instructor, David sent over 50 students to National championships where many placed and won in their divisions. David has studied many forms of martial arts and received his 2nd degree black belt in Seishin Kai / Shito Ryu / Go-Shindo (Aki-juijitsu). David also competed in the South Carolina State Palmetto Games winning Gold in Kumite (fighting) and the Georgia Tour of Champions sweeping Gold in Kumite and Kata (forms). His area of specialties is knees, shoulders, necks, and Sports Medicine. Free time is hanging out with family and friends.
