Pilates – Reformer, Mat, Ball
Pilates is a method of exercise designed and developed by physical therapist pioneer, Joseph H. Pilates. Utilizing specially designed equipment, his innovative method educates, re-patterns, realigns, and balances the body. Pilates offers a superior standard of kinetic movements that are physiologically sound. It develops the muscles of the body from the inside out, improves suppleness of the limbs, functioning of the vital organs, and endocrine glands, clarifies the mind and develops the will. Pilates also promotes mind/body connection, starting with core stability, tapping into the deeper abdominal muscles, as well as the spinal erectors. This leads to better posture, increased lung capacity (deep, healthy breathing is key) and joint articulation/mobility. Pilates also increases bone density by doing weight-bearing exercise without impact.
Multi-Level Reformer Pilates
In addition to the benefits described above, the specialized Pilates equipment gives clients a tactile sense of where their body is in space, using springs and straps to increase resistance and challenge. The machine also provides support when necessary to facilitate recovery from injury or surgery.
Private or group classes – all levels
Spinning or Studio Cycling is an excellent exercise for cardiovascular strength and muscle toning. The instructor takes the class on a “ride” that includes sprints, hill climbs, and other fun exercises like intervals and circuits. Spinning bikes are equipped with a weighted flywheel in the front to quickly pick up speed when pedaling, as well as adjustable seats and handlebars, to give the feel of a road bike. Set to motivating music, classes last 60 minutes and scorch about 7.2 to 13.6 calories per minute – or about 500 calories per class.

This class combines Tai Chi concepts with Shiatsu and Watsu techniques; it is performed standing in shoulder-deep water using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad movements of the arms, legs and torso.
